SYS currently operates a 93 foot Maxi for Remy Cointreau. The Bols Maxi was the creation of SYS. Working with Hugh Welbourn, one of the most visionary yacht designers in the world, Gordon Kay presented to Remy a project to launch the Bols brand to a wider audience in keeping with the Bols corporate strategy. Built in Australia at Boatspeed, Bols was launched in Auckland in March 2002.
This thoroughbred racer was designed and constructed for maximum boat speed without compromising to conform to restrictive rating formulas. Bols was designed to break Ocean Racing Records and to win line honours in all races she entered. Upon her official unveiling in Rotterdam in June 2002 (see Image Gallery), a carefully managed media event, the value of Remy Cointreau rose by €70 million.
Bols has broken numerous records since her launch and will be challenging the World 24 hour record in 2004 something which she has been building towards during 2003.
The Bols Maxi has won every event she has competed in and has exceeded the expectations of the client. The Bols Maxi has been to St Petersburg for the launch of Bols vodka in Russia and to the Cannes Duty Free Festival the largest duty free trade fair in the world.
